In vitro

Semaglutide has been shown to act as a potent glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist in in vitro studies. It demonstrates high binding affinity to the GLP-1 receptor and activates downstream signaling pathways associated with cyclic AMP (cAMP) production.

In cultured cell models expressing GLP-1 receptors, Semaglutide exhibits prolonged receptor activation compared to native GLP-1, contributing to its extended activity profile. The compound has also been observed to enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion signaling pathways in vitro systems.
