Description
Human Growth Hormone (HGH), also known as somatotropin, is a peptide hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland. It plays a critical role in growth regulation, metabolism, and cellular regeneration. In vitro
METHODS: HepG2 hepatocytes, C2C12 myoblasts, and primary human fibroblasts were treated with HGH (0–500 ng/mL) for 24–72 hours. Activation of downstream signaling pathways and expression of growth- and metabolism-related proteins were evaluated using Western blot analysis, ELISA, and gene expression assays.
RESULTS: HGH activates the Growth Hormone Receptor (GHR) and induces downstream signaling through JAK2/STAT, PI3K/Akt, and MAPK pathways. It promotes protein synthesis, enhances cell proliferation, and regulates lipid and glucose metabolism. Increased expression of IGF-1 and related growth factors is observed, contributing to anabolic and metabolic effects. No significant cytotoxicity is observed within commonly used experimental concentration ranges. [1]
