PEG-MGF is a pegylated form of Mechano Growth Factor (MGF), an IGF-1 splice variant involved in muscle repair and regeneration. The addition of a polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety significantly increases peptide stability and extends its half-life compared to native MGF. PEG-MGF is widely used in research focused on tissue repair, muscle regeneration, and anabolic signaling pathways.

Questions
PEG MGF Common Questions
What’s pIC50?
pIC50 is the negative log of the IC50 value when converted to molar. That is, pIC50=-log(IC50).
What’s Kd?
Dissociation consent (Kd) reflects the affinity of a compound for its target. In some cases, it can be equivalent to Ki.

Targets & IC50
Targets:
Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 Receptor (IGF-1R)
PI3K/Akt Pathway
MAPK/ERK Pathway
IC50:
Not applicable (PEG-MGF is a peptide growth factor analog, not an inhibitory compound)
In vitro
METHODS: C2C12 myoblasts and primary skeletal muscle cells were treated with PEG-MGF (0–100 nM) for 24–96 hours. Cell proliferation, differentiation, and signaling pathway activation were evaluated using Western blot analysis, immunofluorescence, and cell viability assays.
RESULTS: PEG-MGF promotes myoblast proliferation and enhances muscle cell repair processes through activation of IGF-1 receptor-mediated signaling pathways, including PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK. Compared to native MGF, PEG-MGF demonstrates prolonged activity due to increased stability and reduced degradation. It supports sustained anabolic signaling and improves cellular survival without significant cytotoxicity at commonly used experimental concentrations. [1]
